Finoric Helps Arkoma Basin Operator Reduce Scaling Issues With ScaleGone Encapsulated Inhibitor

An operator in the Arkoma Basin, located in Oklahoma, was experiencing scale damage in their horizontal, multi-stage fractured wells. They would traditionally perform acid remedial treatments to remove scale damage but were looking for an extended-release scale inhibitor that would provide long-term protection to significantly defer future remedial treatments.

Finoric worked with the operator to develop a treatment program that would use the ScaleGone™ Encapsulated product. This high-activity solid scale inhibitor utilizes a unique dual encapsulation process, resulting in long-term scale protection. The treatment was designed to pump 300 lbs of ScaleGone Encapsulated in the horizontal section after the acid remedial treatment was completed. Lab results show that after 135 days, the produced water continues to contain inhibitor at an average level of 2.4 ppm. This is compared to the minimum inhibitor concentration (MIC) of 1 ppm determined from pre-treatment lab work.

The innovative use of the ScaleGone product improves the effectiveness and economics of acid remedial treatments and is being utilized in select Kairos Energy Services applications.

SwellVert Diverters Significantly Improve Sealing Efficiency and Production

Finoric's SwellVert Far-Field and Near-Wellbore Diverters combines rigid and swellable particles to significantly improve sealing efficiency and production over traditional diverters while reducing parent-child interactions.

Polylactic acid (PLA) and other rigid particle diverter products have limited sealing efficiency if the particle size distribution does not exactly match the geometry of the fractures. SwellVert Diverters minimize dependence on particle size, improving diversion efficiency across a wide range of geometries.

The near-wellbore diverters are designed to divert at the sand face inside the perforation tunnels. This helps improve perforation stimulation efficiency during fracturing operations, increase fluid distribution during remedial treatments, and used as lost circulation material during drill-outs.

The far-field diverters are designed to be placed during fracturing operations and will flow with and divert the fracturing fluid within the formation. This increases fracture complexity and limits planar fracture growth.

Like other polymeric diverters, SwellVert diverters will degrade with time and temperature to a benign, non-damaging fluid. Multiple product grades are available depending on the downhole temperature and the desired rate of degradation.

As customers increase methanol consumption while operating in colder temperature, Finoric’s new IceGone™ hybrid hydrate inhibitor can help solve a variety of challenges. Delivered as a single product where a specialty oligomer-based KHI is diluted into methanol at a rate of 5 to 20%, the IceGone solution can be effective at conditions exceeding 20°C (36°F) ΔT subcooling temperature. Finoric also offers a program specifically designed for onshore use.

The IceGone hybrid hydrate inhibitor combines the benefits of both a THI and LDHI, allowing for an estimated dose rate reduction and cost savings, which can:

The Finoric ScaleGone encapsulated scale inhibitor can be placed with the proppant during a hydraulic fracturing operation, delivering scale inhibitors where they are needed most. ScaleGone utilizes a unique dual encapsulation process that protects the product during pumping operations, releases a small dose during fracturing, and then slowly releases scale inhibitor to provide long-term scale protection.
